In 2024, UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy and Environment’s director, Ken Alex, approached SERC (Student Environmental Resource Center) to collaborate on just climate futures. This vision grew to focus on developing a voter engagement network that spans across the US through higher education institutions. Since then, this initiative has been grant-funded by Clean and Prosperous America to continue developing a network of voter engagement across Universities. SEED is now based out of UC Berkeley, with a University of California network, and aims to provide resources and community space for voter engagement initiatives across the US. The project is currently spearheaded by UC Berkeley student leaders at SERC and the ASUC Eco Office, and involves an advisory board of founding members. Current initiatives include voter engagement and registration events, place-based voter guides, and web resources. Join us in preparing for the November 2026 election by donating, joining the network, or contacting us for collaboration.

Why Youth Climate Voting Matters

Gen Z and Millennials now make up the majority of eligible voters. Climate policy decisions being made right now on energy, land use, and environmental regulation will define the world this generation inherits. SEED turns that urgency into action.
